• 2023.09.08Today’s Class 1

  

  Today in Class 1 we had a fun, busy day! First our Teacher’s Assistants helped us do the Morning Meeting! Afterwards we drew dango and pampas grass for the moon-watching rabbits we made out of origami paper earlier in the week! Then we went outside to Kitakaze Park with Class 2 and Class 3 and got to use our shiny sticks to practice the Junior Dance for the Physical Festival before running as fast as we could in the race! After we went back to IYK, we did English Activity and helped Timothy Pope get a piece of his telescope back by finding matching acorns, pinecones, berries and chestnuts underneath leaves and feeding them to a hungry crow! Then we enjoyed yummy, boxed lunches on the floor picnic-style! Soon enough it was time to go home! See you on Monday Class 1!

• 2023.09.07Today’s Elephant Class

  

  Elephant Class had a their second emergency drill today. This time we practiced an earthquake drill where the children could take cover and evacuate the building together. All of the children did their best to make a pose like “pill bugs”. They paid close attention to their teachers and could listen to the rules very carefully. Everyone walked quietly and we made it outside safely. After that the children practiced throwing and catching balls with their classmates. Each child could say “I’m here,” before catching the ball. It was a such a nice day!

• 2023.09.06Today’s senior

  

  今日は、体育教室のゆうか先生に来てもらい、北風公園でチアダンスのレッスンを行いました。「いっぱい練習したから早く見せたいな！」「大きく声だして踊るぞ！」とやる気いっぱいで北風公園へ向かったお子さま達は、ゆうか先生を見つけると「Good morning！」と大きな声で挨拶をしていました。腕をしっかりと上げて”High V”のポーズをしたり、クラスごとの振り付けで元気な声でかけ声をかける姿をゆうか先生にたくさん褒めてもらい嬉しそうに笑顔を見せていたお子さま達。入場をした後の横のお友達との幅の取り方や、ダンスをよりかっこよく見せる方法など、上手になるポイントをいくつか教えてもらい、チアダンスはさらにパワーアップ！本番までに、さらにレベルアップしたいと意欲を見せていた年長組でした。素敵な発表をお客さまに見せられるよう、みんなで力を合わせて頑張りましょうね！

• 2023.09.06Today’s Bear Class

  

  Bear Class had another fun fruit activity in English! The children could remember our animal friends’ favorite fruits from last lesson. Together with their parents, they could ask “Apple, please” and more with a loud voice. They put the 2D fruit the picked in a magic box and they turned into 3D fruit. Our animal friends were happy again and everybody did a great job dancing to the song “Hot Potato”. Excellent job, everyone!

• 2023.09.05Today’s Elephant Class

  

  The Elephant Class children had a very important day today. We had our second emergency drill and this time we practiced earthquake preparedness. The children could take cover, listen to their teachers, and evacuate the building very well. Everyone did such a good job paying attention to the teachers. Later, we had a physical activity and practicing throwing and catching a big ball. The children also did their best to say their classmates’ names and “I’m here!”. Great job today Elephant friends!

• 2023.09.04Today’s Class 9

  

  ９月になり、Physical Festivalへの期待がどんどん高まってきたお子さま達。今日は幼稚園のみんなで集まって開会式の練習に参加しました。開会式前に披露するチアで、笑顔あふれる元気いっぱいなダンスを見せたり、選手宣誓、カップ返還の役目になったお子様が自信を持って取り組むなど、年長組らしい表情に成長を感じました。
  その後初めて行ったリレーの練習では、「一位になりたい！」と、自分のチームが勝つことを目標に参加し、真剣な表情で走っていたお子さま達。クラスに帰ってご飯を食べた後も「ダンスをもっとレベルアップさせたい！」とやる気十分で、フラッグダンスの練習では、先週よりもレベルアップしたかっこいいダンスを見せてくれましたよ。
  午後からは、もうすぐある敬老の日のために、おじいさま、おばあさまに感謝の気持ちを込めてはがきを作りました。カラフルなかわいいはがきが出来上がると、「喜んでくれるかな！」と、受け取ってくれた時のおじいさまやおばあさまの顔を思い浮かべていたClass 9でした。

• 2023.09.01避難訓練

  

  　今日は防災の日。午後から地震を想定した避難訓練を行いました。地震をお知らせするサイレンがなると、お子さま達は状況を知らせる放送の内容をよく聞き、教師の指示に従って、棚・窓・壁から離れた教室の中心の場所で“だんごむしポーズ”を取りました。訓練が終わった後は、改めてクラスで地震の時の対応を確認しました。地震の揺れで上からものが落ちてきたり、窓が割れてしまった時にガラスの破片に当たらないように棚・窓・壁から離れた場所にいることが良いということや、大事な頭を自分で守るために“だんごむしポーズ”を取ることが大切だとういうことを、終始真剣な表情で聞いていましたよ。次回の避難訓練も、自分の身を守れるように取り組んでいきましょうね。

• 2023.08.31Today’s Class 8

  

  Today in Class 8 we had our first Physical Festival practice in the park. We practiced the ‘Opening Ceremony’ as well as learnt where to line up for our Senior Cheer Dance! Everyone did a great job. Before our yummy, Australian World Lunch, we had time to practice the tone chimes and then after lunch we had Senior Group Activities practice. Everyone did a tremendous job today, well done!

• 2023.08.30Today’s Class 7

  

  Today in Class 7 we started the day with a Hiragana relay challenge! The children took it in turns to add dakuten to the words to fix the mistakes. We then practiced playing melodions and it was obvious the children had practiced during the Summer Holidays at home, as everyone did a fantastic job! There was just enough time to practice our Flag Dance for the Physical Festival before it was time to go home. Great job everyone and see you tomorrow.

• 2023.08.29August Birthday Party

  

  Today’s Birthday Party was so much fun! Everyone did such a good job saying their names and their age, as well as sitting and waiting nicely. Today’s Junior Birthday friends were able to use a big voice to say their name, well done Juniors! Today’s Intermediate Birthday friends were able to use teamwork to say their ages together, it was very impressive. Today’s Senior Birthday friends were so kind and thoughtful in the way they presented the birthday gifts for their friends, everyone was so happy. Lastly, today’s Birthday play was done by the English teachers as a present for the August Birthday friends. The title of the play was; “Giraffes Can’t Dance”. In the play, the Giraffes were able to learn how to dance, forgive and ultimately, make friends. The play finished with a big “Happy Birthday” and everyone went back to class. Thank you everyone for such a wonderful party, let’s look forward to next month!
